Check the phone before you pay
- Dial *#06# on the phone to see its IMEI, then SMS the IMEI to 1555 (Communications Authority). The reply must show the same make and model as the phone in your hand.
- Check the IMEI in Settings and on the box match the one from *#06#.
- Ask the seller to sign out of their iCloud or Google account and reset the phone in front of you. A locked phone is useless.
- Put in your own SIM, make a call, test the camera, charging port, speaker and screen.
- Pay by M-Pesa so there is a record, and check that the name M-Pesa shows before you confirm matches the seller.
